Partnerships with young talents from the Fashion Design course at the European Institute of Design (IED) are a valuable training opportunity as well as an investment in the future of our industry
The European Institute of Design (IED) is a world-class international network with all-Italian roots that performs training and research in the subjects of Design, Fashion, Visual Arts and Communication. IED is a ‘workshop’ that offers young creatives a ‘design culture’ that will accompany them throughout their lives. For this very reason, IED is much more than a school: it is a centre for shaping a new generation of professionals.

Ginevra Discosti
Ginevra was born in Carpi, Emilia-Romagna. After graduating from art school, she became deeply passionate about knitwear, opening up endless horizons to explore in the world of fashion and textiles.
The ‘L’autunno del cuore’ project walks a delicate balance between daring, mature femininity and nostalgia, seeking refuge from the complexity of life through a return to childhood.
Description
Sleeveless cardigan in fur stitch with a teddy effect. The 2×2 waist rib gives a slightly puffed out effect
Strapless plain knit top in a gradation of colours that go from purple to pink to create a strawberry and stars pattern.
The skirt is a balloon model featuring a gradation of colours that go from pink to green via white and light blue. Colours echo the children’s drawings, the green of the grass, the blue of the sky.

Description
The dress features a gradation of colours that go from purple to pink to create a repeat pattern. The bodice of the dress has one part in 2×2 rib and another in plain knit, in sequence down to the waist . The sleeves are in 2×2 rib. All the elements have been produced with maximum attention to the final result of the gradation to ensure visual continuity. Silver rhinestone stars have also been applied.

Chiara Monti
Chiara was born in Prato, Tuscany. Having graduated from art school and gained some work experience, she now attends the Fashion Design course.
The ‘Error 404’ project is an invitation for critical reflection on technology, its impact on our daily life and the consequences that ensue.
Description
Sweater with boat neck that can be turned down in 3×3 purple rib, made up of a 75 cm front and back panel with two jacquards and sleeves.
Jacquard with flowers that fade into another distressed jacquard in the shape of binary coding and two-tone fringes.

Look description “The jester’s paradox“
Cropped jacket inspired by medieval jester’s costumes, oversize fit. Padded shoulders overstitched on the inside via the facings that form the armhole, the sleeves have a patch on the elbow that allows it to completely open as the elbow moves. Lined and overstitched by hand.
Oversize shirt with batwing sleeves, overstitched cuffs with pleated insert with a tiny frog fastening.The soft fabric gives a sinuous movement effect to the sleeves for a soft yet resistant appearance.
Trousers inspired by medieval jester’s costumes. The fullness is achieved by the cuts and pleats at the waist, the hem is overstitched to create a turn-up effect so that it does not touch the ground. Double high waistband, with flap and button. The fabric gives a stiff modelled look that keeps the natural pleats and hem perfect shape.

Look description “Harmony and chaos“
The jacket features textile manipulation, with some parts needled to give a felted effect. This look is made possible thanks to the composition of the base fabric, as woollen fabrics worked with carded wool give a heavier, more compact result in the selected zones. A fabric paint was then applied to give a crêpe hand to the additions of felted wool.
The trousers have two pleats down the sides that can be hooked onto the fronts or left loose. Waistband with overstitching on the inside, flap fastening.

Angela Gentile
Angela was born in Cirò Marina, Calabria. From a young age, she has had a strong passion for research and details in the world of textiles.
The Altra project aims to free women from the inferior status that obliges them to be man’s ‘other half’, deprived of the right or opportunity to establish themselves as Other, namely the other key player equal to man.
Look description
In 100% WV red matte crepe satin with natural stretch, this dress has a sophisticated construction. The construction is picked up on the bustier which is enhanced by the structural cut of the dress.
The upper part recalls corsetry cups, with an emphatic dart on the bust. The anatomic crater neck slims the figure. The sleeve cap structure is similar to that of a tailored jacket, with a shoulder pad and head wadding. Unlike the rest of the dress, which is finished in same-colour pegaso, the sleeve is lined.

Look description
In pinstripe flannel 96% WV and 4% EA, the bodice has a bespoke construction to enhance the pinstripe fabrics. It is made in a way similar to that of the longuette dress
Also in pinstripe flannel 96% WV and 4% EA, the trousers feature a double pleat at the waist to create generous volume. Construction of the trousers has been deliberately studied to enhance the pinstripe fabrics and treated like a bespoke garment. It also features a hole at the belly button, symbol of the ALTRA collection.
